Job summary

Frey Consulting Group is seeking a hands-on HGV Mechanic to service, maintain, and repair a modern fleet of trucks and commercial vehicles. The role is primarily workshop-based in Dublin with an option to join an on-call rota for field service work.

Ideal candidates are qualified HGV Mechanics, Plant Fitters or Commercial Vehicle Technicians with strong fault-finding skills and experience in preventative maintenance and inspections. A full driving licence is preferred.

Qualifications

• Qualified HGV Mechanic, Plant Fitter or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
• Experience servicing and repairing trucks, vans or heavy equipment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience carrying out preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Good understanding of vehicle diagnostics and repair procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on trucks and vans.
• Diagnose faults and complete mechanical repairs.
• Conduct inspections and vehicle health checks.
• Carry out breakdown diagnostics and corrective repairs.
• Ensure vehicles meet roadworthiness and safety standards.
• Complete service documentation and maintenance records.
• Support workshop operations and fleet availability targets.
• Participate in the on-call rota if desired, with field-based service work available.

THE ROLE:

This is a hands-on HGV Mechanic role focused on servicing, maintenance and repair work across a fleet of commercial vehicles. The position is predominantly workshop-based, with optional field service work available through the on-call rota.

THE PERSON:

This role is ideal for a qualified HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or Plant Fitter. Candidates from automotive backgrounds will also be considered, particularly if they have strong diagnostic and maintenance experience.

• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
• Experience carrying out preventative maintenance and inspections
• Good understanding of vehicle diagnostics and repair procedures
• Plant fitters looking to move into commercial vehicles will be considered
• Car mechanics with relevant experience may also be considered
• Full driving licence preferred
