Job summary

Paddy Dore Commercials in Limerick is seeking an HGV Mechanic to service and repair heavy vehicles, ensuring roadworthiness and safety. Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or heavy vehicle mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, braking, suspension and steering for heavy vehicles.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Experience in servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs on commercial vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, inspection, and repair of HGVs and trailers to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, diesel engine, and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
• Remove, repair, replace, and reassemble defective vehicle components and systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing per manufacturer standards.
• Prepare vehicles and trailers for CVRT testing and carry out repairs to ensure roadworthiness.
• Test vehicles following maintenance to verify performance, safety, and reliability.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment and adhere to health and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.


• Experience carrying out servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs on commercial vehicles.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


• Good attention to detail and commitment to high quality workmanship.


• Relevant technical training, certification, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience in heavy vehicle mechanics.


• Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements within a workshop environment.
