Job summary

DFDS in Clonmel is seeking an HGV Driver to play a key role in delivering and collecting goods across Ireland, operating from the Clonmel site with a modern fleet and a commitment to safety and customer service.

You will carry out deliveries/collections, complete documentation, and comply with transport regulations while maintaining vehicle standards and presenting a professional image to customers. Applicants must hold HGV Class 1, Tachograph Card, CPC and strong English skills.

Qualifications

• Must hold HGV Class 1 licence, Tachograph Card and CPC qualification.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Excellent customer service and a professional manner with customers.
• Safe driving record with commitment to compliance and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Safely delivering and collecting chilled, ambient and produce goods to and from customer locations.
• Ensuring all delivery documentation is completed accurately and signed where required.
• Complying with road transport legislation and company policies.
• Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting defects promptly.
• Recording all activities in line with legal and company requirements.
• Working in line with Drivers’ Hours regulations and the Working Time Directive.
• Ensuring loads are secured safely and transported per procedures.
• Providing a professional and courteous service to customers at all times.
• Maintaining high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.

About the role

As an HGV Driver, you'll play a key role in ensuring goods are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time across Ireland. Operating from our Clonmel site, you'll be responsible for carrying out deliveries and collections while representing DFDS with professionalism at every customer interaction. Working with our modern fleet, you'll help maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service, ensuring products reach their destination in excellent condition. You will be responsible for:

• Safely delivering and collecting chilled, ambient, and produce goods to and from customer locations.
• Ensuring all delivery documentation is completed accurately and signed where required.
• Complying with all road transport legislation and company policies.
• Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects promptly.
• Recording all activities in line with legal and company requirements.
• Working in accordance with Drivers’ Hours regulations and the Working Time Directive.
• Ensuring loads are secured safely and transported in line with company procedures.

• Maintaining high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.

About you

You will hold a full HGV Class 1 licence and have a valid Tacho Card as well as a current CPC qualification. You will possess good English communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling you to complete documentation accurately and interact effectively with customers and colleagues. In addition, you will demonstrate excellent customer service skills and take pride in representing the business in a professional manner.
