Northside HomeCare is hiring a Healthcare Assistant to work in the community across Dublin, 37 hours per week. You will provide personal care, light household tasks and social support to service users in their own homes, following care plans and supervision by the Line Manager.

This role requires a minimum of 1 year of experience as a Health Care Assistant or Home Care Worker, QQI Level 5 in Care Skills and Care of the Older Person, and a valid driver’s license with access to transport.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience as a Health Care Assistant / Home Care Worker
• Own transport is essential for this role
• Full driver’s licence
• Good command of the English language - aural, spoken and written
• Garda Vetting (NVB checks)
• Written Employment References required
• Completion of / or a willingness to undertake QQI Level 5 Care Skills and Care of the Older Person modules
• HSE online modules (various)

Responsabilités

• Personal Care: bathing, toileting, incontinence pad changing, washing, dressing and feeding
• Practical light household tasks: meals, cleaning, tidying, light chores
• Social care: conversation, companionship, support with home exercise programme and activities per care plan
• Prompting/assisting service users to take medications
• Maintain written records in the Service User Diary and One Touch IT Health Recording System
• Attend and participate in supervision, team and company training and meetings
• Comply with Health and Safety policies and ensure safe use of equipment
• Uphold the rights and dignity of service users and maintain NHCS values

Job Description

The overall purpose of the role is to care for and maintain people in their own home. The Health Care Assistant provides assistance, support and direct personal care required to help with maintaining the independence and wellbeing of the service user. To attend to service user primarily in their own home. To carry out a range of care tasks as indicated on the service users Care Plan and as directed by your Line Manager. These tasks include Personal Care, light household duties and social care as follows:

• a) Personal Care Tasks include but are not limited to bathing, toileting, incontinence pad changing, washing, dressing and feeding
• b) Practical light household care tasks include but are not limited to making meals, clean kitchen tops, hovering, tidying, fire lighting
• c) Social Care tasks include but are not limited to conversation, companionship, support with home exercise programme and other activities identified on the care plan

To prompt / assist service users to take their medications. To be aware of the changing needs of a service user and to report these to your Line Manager. To provide relief for a carer/colleague as required. To maintain written records of service users visited as required by the Company, including the Service User Diary and the companies One Touch IT Health Recording System. To participate in formal and informal individual, team and group supervision, as required. To attend and participate in individual, team and company training and meetings, as required. To comply with all aspects of the Company’s Health and Safety Policies and procedures, to ensure that all safety equipment provided (e.g. hoists, slings, etc.) are used correctly and in a safe manner; and to report immediately any Health and Safety risks in the service users home to your Line manager. To provide a consistently high standard of professional care to service users of NHCS. To ensure that the rights of service users are protected in your dealings with them. To be caring and responsible in dealing with service users and their families. To carry out duties in accordance with the values, ethos and mission of the NHCS. To comply with company policies and procedures as are laid out in the Employee Handbook and in the Clinical Practice File on the One Touch IT System available on your company phone.
