QQI Level 5 Healthcare qualification, excellent communication, reliability and the ability to work independently or with a team, with fluent English, are required.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare (relevant modules or in progress).

Responsibilities

• Supporting the nursing staff and delivering high quality person-centred care.
• Getting to know residents’ interests and needs, providing attention and companionship.
• Promoting mobility and assisting to maintain/improve physical function.
• Maintaining residents' personal appearance and hygiene with dignity.
• Communicating with nurses regarding residents’ condition and daily life.
• Assisting residents to eat and drink and ensuring comfort.
• Participation in, organisation and carrying out social activities.
• Maintaining communication with residents’ families and staff.
• Upkeeping high standards of cleanliness in the home.
• Contributing to Health and Safety in the home.
• Any other duties deemed necessary by Nurse in Charge and management.

Charleville Nursing Home are currentlyinviting applications to the role of Healthcare Assistant. This 60-bed nursing home is located inCharleville Town, Co Cork.

Purpose of the role

The Care Assistant works as a member of a team delivering care to the residents via the Named Nurse concept. As such a team member, the Care Assistant contributes to the fulfillment of Mowlam Healthcare’s philosophy of care. The role report reports to the Nurse in Charge and is responsible to the Director of Nursing.

What does the role entail?

• Supporting the nursing staff and team in delivering high quality person-centred care to meet all care needs of residents
• Getting to know residents’ interests and needs, providing attention, support and companionship
• Promoting the mobility of residents, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure optimum mobility is maintained and improved where possible
• Enabling and assisting residents to maintain their personal appearance /hygiene needs whilealways maintaining their dignity
• Communicating with nurses regarding resident's condition or any aspect of resident's daily life
• Enabling and assisting residents to eat/drink and achieve physical comfort
• Participating, organising and carrying out social activities
• Sustaining high level of communication between resident’s family and staff developing good relationships
• Assisting in the upkeep of high standards of cleanliness in the home
• Contributing to the maintenance of Health and Safety in the home
• Any other duties deemed necessary by Nurse in Charge and management.
