Mowlam Healthcare in Killarney is recruiting a full-time Healthcare Assistant to join Killarney Nursing Home. You will work as part of a team delivering high-quality, person-centred care to residents under the Named Nurse concept.

You will support nursing staff, help residents with daily activities, promote mobility, assist with personal care and meals, and participate in social activities. The role requires compassionate communication, reliability, and a positive outlook.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and listening skills.

• Fluent level of English both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Support the nursing staff in delivering person-centred care.
• Get to know residents’ interests and provide companionship.
• Promote mobility and assist to maintain/improve mobility.
• Assist residents with personal appearance and hygiene while maintaining dignity.
• Communicate with nurses regarding residents’ condition and daily life.
• Assist residents to eat and drink and ensure physical comfort.
• Participate in organising and carrying out social activities.
• Sustain high-level communication with residents’ families.
• Assist in maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the home.
• Contribute to health and safety in the home.
• Any other duties as deemed by the Nurse in Charge.

We are now recruiting for a full time Healthcare Assistant to join Killarney Nursing Home.

Purpose of the role

The Health Care Assistant works as a member of a team delivering care to the residents via the Named Nurse concept. As such a team member, the Care Assistant contributes to the fulfillment of Mowlam Healthcare’s philosophy of care.

What does the role entail?

• Supporting the nursing staff and team in delivering high quality person-centred care to meet all care needs of residents
• Getting to know residents’ interests and needs, providing attention, support and companionship
• Promoting the mobility of residents, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure optimum mobility is maintained and improved where possible
• Enabling and assisting residents to maintain their personal appearance /hygiene needs whilealways maintaining their dignity
• Communicating with nurses regarding resident's condition or any aspect of resident's daily life
• Enabling and assisting residents to eat/drink and achieve physical comfort
• Participating, organising and carrying out social activities
• Sustaining high level of communication between resident’s family and staff developing good relationships
• Assisting in the upkeep of high standards of cleanliness in the home
• Contributing to the maintenance of Health and Safety in the home
• Any other duties deemed necessary by Nurse in Charge and management.
