Job summary

Adare and District Memory Care Centre, part of Mowlam Healthcare Group, is recruiting Healthcare Assistants to join a dedicated multi-disciplinary team in delivering high-quality, person-centred care 24 hours a day.

The role reports to the Nurse in Charge and requires compassionate, professional individuals with strong communication skills and a commitment to dignity in care. The centre offers a supportive environment with induction training and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• FETAC/QQI Level 5 healthcare qualification (or in progress)
• Excellent communication and listening skills required
• Reliable and professional approach
• Can work independently or as part of a team
• Fluent written and spoken English required
• All posts subject to satisfactory references and Garda vetting

Responsibilities

• Support nursing staff in delivering high quality person-centred care
• Get to know residents' interests and needs, provide companionship
• Promote mobility and assist with daily activities
• Maintain residents' appearance and personal hygiene with dignity
• Communicate with nurses about residents' condition
• Assist residents to eat/drink and maintain comfort
• Participate in social activities and events
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety in the home
• Assist with general duties as directed by Nurse in Charge

Adare and District Memory Care Centre is a modern purpose built home where we provide a high standard of care 24 hours a day. We offer residential care as well as specialist Memory Care for residents living with dementia. We are now recruiting for Healthcare Assistants to join our existing multi-disciplinary team.

Purpose of the role

The Care Assistant works as a member of a team delivering care to the residents via the Named Nurse concept. As such a team member, the Care Assistant contributes to the fulfillment of Mowlam Healthcare's philosophy of care. The role report reports to the Nurse in Charge and is responsible to the Director of Nursing.

What does the role entail?

• Supporting the nursing staff and team in delivering high quality person-centred care to meet all care needs of residents
• Getting to know residents' interests and needs, providing attention, support and companionship
• Promoting the mobility of residents, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure optimum mobility is maintained and improved where possible
• Enabling and assisting residents to maintain their personal appearance /hygiene needs while always maintaining their dignity
• Communicating with nurses regarding resident's condition or any aspect of resident's daily life
• Enabling and assisting residents to eat/drink and achieve physical comfort
• Participating, organising and carrying out social activities
• Sustaining high level of communication between resident's family and staff developing good relationships
• Assisting in the upkeep of high standards of cleanliness in the home
• Contributing to the maintenance of Health and Safety in the home
• Any other duties deemed necessary by Nurse in Charge and management

What are the qualifications/skills needed?

• FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare in relevant modules (or equivalent) in progress or completed
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Reliable and professional
• Can work independently or part of a team
• Ability to maintain a positive outlook
• Fluent level of English both written and oral
• All posts are subject to satisfactory references, medical and Garda vetting
