Morgan McKinley is recruiting an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead H&S across a large nationwide retail operation from our Dublin HQ. You’ll shape strategy, drive a strong safety culture and collaborate with senior management and store teams across Ireland.

You will lead a four-person H&S team, champion regulatory compliance, and translate legislation into practical controls that support safe, efficient operations nationwide.

Qualifications

• Experience in a large, complex organisation.
• Experience overseeing Health & Safety across multiple locations.
• Proven people management experience.
• Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and regulatory compliance.
• Experience developing and implementing Health & Safety policies, procedures and standards.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Confidence engaging with and influencing senior leadership teams.
• Ability to balance strategic planning with practical, operational Health & Safety management.
• Member-level accreditation with a professional body.
• CIF / IOSH PSDP qualification.
• Degree in Health & Safety is desirable.
• Postgraduate Fire Safety Engineering is desirable.
• Strong digital skills, including Microsoft Office.

About the Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of Health & Safety across a large, nationwide retail operation.

This is a senior leadership position offering responsibility for shaping Health & Safety strategy, strengthening safety culture and ensuring consistent standards across a substantial network of retail locations.

Based at Dublin HQ, you will lead a team of four Health & Safety professionals while working closely with senior management, operational leaders and store teams throughout Ireland.

This role offers a combination of strategic influence and hands‑on operational involvement, with the opportunity to drive meaningful improvements across a complex, fast‑paced organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Health & Safety policies, procedures and standards across the nationwide retail network.

• Ensure compliance with relevant Irish Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.

• Lead risk assessment and risk management activities across multiple locations.

• Monitor Health & Safety performance, using data, KPIs and reporting to identify trends and areas for improvement.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a proactive Health & Safety culture.

• Lead, develop and support a team of four Health & Safety professionals.

• Provide coaching, guidance and training to colleagues and operational management teams.

• Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders, external partners and regulatory bodies, including the HSA.

• Translate legislative and regulatory requirements into practical controls that can be implemented across retail operations.

• Support safe, compliant and efficient day-to-day operations across the wider business.

• Provide strategic direction while maintaining visibility and engagement with operational teams across the country.

What We're Looking For

• An experienced Health & Safety professional with a proven track record in a large, complex organisation.

• Experience managing Health & Safety across retail, construction or a similarly operational environment.

• Previous people management or team leadership experience.

• Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and regulatory compliance.

• Proven experience developing and implementing Health & Safety policies, procedures and standards.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Confidence engaging with and influencing senior leadership teams.

• Ability to balance strategic planning with practical, operational Health & Safety management.

• Member‑level accreditation with an appropriate professional body.

• CIF / IOSH PSDP qualification.

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Health & Safety is desirable.

• Postgraduate qualification in Fire Safety Engineering is desirable.

• Strong digital skills, including Microsoft Office.
