Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Project Management to lead the successful delivery of complex, high-value customer projects across our global business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director – Sales, the successful candidate will lead the Projects Department which is a multidisciplinary project organization and drive best-in-class project management practices across the business.
This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing the complete project lifecycle, from order to customer handover, through engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, site delivery, commissioning, customer acceptance, and project close-out. The position plays a critical role in ensuring operational excellence, customer satisfaction, commercial success, and continuous improvement across project execution activities.
Key Elements of the Role
Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead the successful execution of all customer projects from contract award to final handover.
- Establish and maintain robust project governance, planning, and performance management processes.
- Ensure project objectives relating to safety, schedule, quality, cost, and customer satisfaction are achieved.
- Drive consistency and excellence in project execution across the organization.
- Build strong relationships with customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure a positive customer experience through proactive communication and effective project delivery.
- Act as senior escalation point for strategic projects and key customer engagements.
- Coordinate activities across Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Logistics, Commissioning, Service, and Finance.
- Optimize project performance through effective planning, resource utilization, and risk management.
- Ensure project readiness and smooth transition through all execution phases.
- Significant level of international travel to customer locations, ports, manufacturing sites, and project installations worldwide.
- The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a global environment and engaging with customers, partners, and project teams across multiple regions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing project management organization.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Build organizational capability and strengthen project management competencies across the business.
- Establish performance metrics and reporting frameworks to drive informed decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, predictability, and customer outcomes.
- Promote lessons learned and best practices across projects and functions.
- Other duties will evolve and arise from time to time.
Qualifications Requirements and Experience
- Extensive experience leading large-scale engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure, or capital equipment projects.
- Proven success managing multidisciplinary teams and complex project portfolios.
- Strong track record coordinating with diverse stakeholders to plan, execute, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Relevant qualification or trade background, or equivalent experience (Engineering preferred).
- Strong commercial acumen with customer-facing leadership experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across functions.
- Self-motivated, with strong decision-making, problem-solving, and initiative.
- Customer-focused, with strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to operational excellence, risk management, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
