Job summary

Biogen in Athlone is seeking a Head of Manufacturing Sciences to lead a dedicated MS team, advancing process technology, ensuring transfer, control, and ongoing monitoring in a compliant, inspection‑ready state.

You will align site priorities with global MS objectives, drive technology and digital transformation at scale, and mentor staff across Quality, Regulatory, Engineering, and Manufacturing to deliver robust processes.

Qualifications

• MSc/PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline; significant sterile/aseptic manufacturing experience.
• Bridge between development and manufacturing; align process needs with site capability.
• Experience in tech transfer, process engineering, MSAT or manufacturing sciences, with troubleshooting ability.
• Experience planning validation campaigns in fast-paced environments.
• Experience handling regulatory inspections and responding to technical questions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and leadership to staff and matrixed teams for seamless process integration and monitoring.
• Collaborate with site and global leadership, ensuring alignment with global MS goals.
• Translate business priorities into tactical objectives for the site MS teams and production schedules.
• Manage budget, staffing, and performance management; mentor staff for career development.
• Ensure cgXP compliance and maintain inspection readiness to support regulatory inspections.
• Foster innovation and drive technology and digital transformation at scale.
