Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking a Head of Finance Strategy for a leading global insurance and financial services organisation. You will report to the CFO and act as a trusted adviser to the CEO and Executive Committee, shaping financial strategy and governance across the strategic portfolio.

You will deliver robust financial insight, produce concise reports and papers for the Board, lead investment appraisal and cost-benefit analysis, monitor performance and risks, and ensure decisions balance

Qualifications

• Extensive senior leadership experience in finance and strategy within a regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of insurance or financial services regulatory framework.
• Ability to influence C-suite and boards with credible challenge.
• Expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Deliver robust financial insight, constructive challenge and strategic guidance to inform key business decisions.

About Your New Job

As Head of Finance Strategy, you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and act as a trusted strategic adviser to the CFO, CEO and Executive Committee.

You will:

• Deliver robust financial insight, constructive challenge and strategic guidance to inform key business decisions.
• Produce clear, concise and actionable reports, strategic papers and recommendations for senior executives, governance committees and the Board.
• Lead the financial assessment of strategic initiatives, including business case development, scenario analysis, investment appraisal and cost-benefit evaluation.
• Monitor and oversee the performance, costs, benefits and delivery of the strategic portfolio, identifying emerging risks and recommending appropriate remedial actions.
• Provide strategic financial oversight across investment decisions, capital allocation, customer outcomes, outsourcing arrangements and portfolio prioritisation.
• Enhance financial governance, risk management and conduct oversight, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and Central Bank of Ireland requirements.
• Ensure strategic and financial decisions appropriately balance customer outcomes, risk appetite, investment discipline and commercial performance.

• This is a highly visible leadership role where you will translate complex financial and strategic information into clear choices and compelling recommendations for senior stakeholders.

What Skills You Need

• Extensive senior leadership experience across finance, strategy, corporate development, consulting or a similar discipline within a complex, regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of the insurance or financial services sector, including its regulatory framework, customer expectations, risk landscape and operational dynamics.
• Demonstrated ability to advise and influence CFOs, CEOs, Boards and executive leadership teams, providing credible challenge and strategic direction at the most senior levels.
• Advanced expertise in financial planning and forecasting, management reporting, investment evaluation, business case development and performance analysis..
