Job summary

FIS based in Dublin seeks a senior policy leader to serve as Head of EMEA Policy, shaping the company’s EU strategy and engagement with EU institutions and trade associations.

You will oversee external government-affairs consultants, report to the VP Global Public Policy, and drive policy developments on Digital Euro, PSD3, AI Act, data privacy, and cybersecurity while aligning with global business goals.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in EU public policy or government affairs.
• Deep understanding of EU legislative processes and institutions.
• Knowledge of payments, financial services or technology sectors with familiarity with EU frameworks like DORA, MiCA, PSD3, and the AI Act.
• Strategic, politically savvy thinker who translates policy into actionable guidance for a US-headquartered fintech.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships across EU institutions and coalitions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with executive presence.
• Demonstrated ability to work with authority and initiative with limited day-to-day oversight.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strategic relationships with EU institutions and member state authorities.
• Drive monitoring and engagement across priority policy areas: Digital Euro, PSD3, EU AI Act, DORA, data privacy, cybersecurity, and sovereignty frameworks.
• Represent FIS in EU trade associations and coordinate policy positions.
• Partner with European sales teams to translate policy developments into commercial guidance and trust narratives.
• Serve as EU policy counterpart to Global Public Policy leadership, ensuring alignment with global strategy.
• Advise senior leaders on regulatory developments and shape business strategy and product priorities.
• Develop policy positions, briefing materials, and responses to regulatory consultations and proposals.
• Lead advocacy strategy to position FIS as a trusted EU partner and counter regulatory moves.
• Manage external government affairs consultants and ensure cost-effective service delivery.
• Oversee policy project management with clear deliverables and progress tracking.
