Job summary

Red Chair Recruitment is seeking a Head of Credit & Business Operations for a client based in Killarney, Co. Kerry. This senior leadership role oversees the credit function and drives operational excellence to support strategic growth.

The candidate will work closely with the CEO, COO and senior leaders to ensure sound credit decisions, governance and regulatory compliance across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Senior management experience leading credit, banking, underwriting, or operational teams in a regulated environment.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive performance.
• Experience implementing governance, risk management and regulatory compliance programs.
• Strong leadership, analytical, organizational and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the credit and underwriting function with high-quality decision-making in line with policies and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and adjust credit strategy and risk management.
• Develop high-performing teams by setting objectives, KPIs, and performance standards.
• Drive operational improvements to increase efficiency, service quality and turnaround times.
• Build relationships with brokers, dealers and partners to improve engagement and service delivery.
• Collaborate with business development to support growth and implement new systems/technologies.
• Ensure governance, risk management, reporting and documentation, and support audits.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for leading the company's credit function while driving operational excellence and supporting strategic growth. Working closely with the CEO, COO, and senior leadership team, the successful candidate will ensure sound credit decision-making, effective governance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the organisation. This role plays a key part in enhancing business performance, strengthening relationships with partners, and implementing systems and processes that support long-term success.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the credit and underwriting function, ensuring consistent, high-quality decision-making in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements to credit strategy and risk management.
• Develop and lead high-performing teams by setting clear objectives, KPIs, and performance standards.
• Drive operational improvements to enhance efficiency, customer service, quality, and turnaround times.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, dealers, and key business partners to improve engagement and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree or professional qualification in Business, Management, or a related discipline.
• Proven senior management experience leading credit, Banking, underwriting, or operational teams in a regulated commercial environment.
• Strong leadership, analytical, organisational, and decision-making skills.
• Experience improving business processes, operational performance, governance, and stakeholder relationships.
