Job summary

Groundworks Contractor in Cavan is seeking an experienced Foreman to oversee groundworks and civil packages on residential developments. You will manage day-to-day on-site works, coordinate labour, plant and sub-contractors, ensure safety, quality and programme compliance, and work closely with Site Engineers to interpret

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day groundworks and civil activities on residential sites.
• Supervise groundworkers, machine operators and other site personnel.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
• Oversee drainage, utilities, ducting, foundations and external works.
• Manage road construction, kerbing, footpaths and external works.
• Plan upcoming works and ensure sufficient labour, plant and materials are available.
• Work closely with Site Engineers and project management to maintain programme.
• Read and work from construction drawings and site plans.
• Monitor quality and ensure works are completed to the required specifications.
• Maintain high health & safety standards across all site activities.
• Identify and resolve day-to-day site issues to keep works progressing.

The Role

An established groundworks contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Foreman to oversee groundworks and civil packages across residential developments in Cavan. This is a hands-on, site-based position suited to someone with a strong background in groundworks, drainage, utilities and residential infrastructure who is comfortable managing crews and coordinating works from initial site development through to completion.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of works on site, coordinating labour, plant and subcontractors while ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day groundworks and civil activities on residential sites.
• Supervise groundworkers, machine operators and other site personnel.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.

• Manage road construction, kerbing, footpaths and external works.

Experience Required

• Previous experience as a Civil Foreman, Groundworks Foreman or General Foreman.
• Strong background in groundworks and civil engineering works.
• Residential development experience is highly desirable.
• Good understanding of drainage, utilities, roads, foundations and external works.
• Experience managing groundworks crews and coordinating plant.
• Ability to read drawings and understand site levels and sequencing of works.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of construction health & safety requirements.
