Job summary

Ballyfin Demesne is seeking an experienced Groundskeeper to join our Garden team, caring for 614 acres of estate grounds. The role reports to the Estate Manager and emphasizes safe, tidy, and well-maintained grounds across the property.

Ideal candidates will have prior groundskeeping experience, strong machinery skills, and the ability to work independently or in a team. A full Irish driving license is required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar groundskeeping role.
• Ability to operate lawn mowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers and other landscaping equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks.
• Excellent time management.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Desirable: Chain Saw Certificate.
• Full clean Irish driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Mows lawns, trims, and rakes leaves as assigned.
• Operates various machinery including lawnmowers and hedge trimmers.
• Picks up debris and maintains pathways across the estate.
• Cuts and removes trees as needed.
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment.
• Drains and cleans water features as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Groundskeeper to join our Garden team at Ballyfin; working across 614 acres of natural beauty.

Main Purpose of Job:

Reporting directly to the Estate Manager, this role is responsibile for maintaining the grounds of the Estate in a clean, presentable and safe manner at all times.

Main Duties include:

• Mows lawns, trims weeds, and rakes leaves as assigned
• Picks up and removes debris and leaves prior to mowing a designated area
• Trims bushes, shrubs, and hedges as required
• Cuts and removes trees as needed
• Applies fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides as directed
• Performs routine maintenance on machinery and equipment
• Responsible for clearing roadways, pathways of leaves/debris across estate
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Drain and clean water figures as required

Skills/Attributes Required:

• Previous experience in a similar position is preferred.
• Ability to operate various types of machinery and equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
• Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
• Chain Saw Certificate is desirable
• Full clean Irish Drivers licence is required

Physical requirements:

• Prolonged periods walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, or kneeling.
• Must be physically able to operate machinery and equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 20KG
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
