Job summary

Boston Scientific Ireland seeks a Graduate Mechanical Engineer on a defined-term 23-month basis to join our Clonmel team. You will learn from experienced engineers, contribute to innovative medical devices, and gain hands-on experience in a regulated environment.

You will support design, development, testing and verification of mechanical components and assemblies, create 3D CAD models and drawings, assist with material selection and design for manufacture, and participate in design reviews with

Qualifications

• Honours Bachelor Degree (Level 8) in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related discipline is essential.
• Graduated within the past two years or currently in the final year of university.
• Relevant work experience or completion of a co-op program, ideally exposure to 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawings during co-op/internship.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies, and product features for medical devices.
• Assist with the creation and modification of 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and design documentation.
• Support material selection, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacture and assembly activities.
• Assist with prototype development, product builds, and evaluation of design concepts.
• Participate in mechanical characterisation, troubleshooting, and performance evaluations.
• Assist with verification testing and documentation of test methods and results.
• Support root-cause investigations and implementation of mechanical design improvements.
• Support risk management activities and implementation of design mitigations.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with Systems, Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory teams.
• Learn and apply medical device design controls, engineering standards, and product development processes.
