Job summary

Arup is inviting applications for a Graduate Civil Engineer to contribute to the design of energy infrastructure projects in Ireland, working with experts across several disciplines to support the energy transition.

You will engage in feasibility, site development, calculations, and drawings, while developing technical skills and pursuing chartership. This role offers learning opportunities and a structured graduate programme.

  • Civil Engineering background required.

Responsibilities

  • Help design earthworks, drainage, access roads, foundations and underground services.

The Opportunity

At Arup, our Energy Infrastructure team is shaping the systems that deliver secure, reliable and low-carbon energy. As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you'll contribute to the design of critical infrastructure projects, working alongside experts across multiple disciplines to develop innovative solutions that support the energy transition.

Working With Experienced Engineers, You'll
  • Support the design and delivery of energy infrastructure projects, including sites, stations, pipelines, cables and associated facilities
  • Assist with feasibility studies, optioneering and site development
  • Contribute to civil engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications and drawings
  • Help design earthworks, drainage, access roads, foundations and underground services
  • Collaborate with Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental and Digital specialists to develop integrated solutions
  • Participate in site visits, surveys, workshops and project meetings

  • An undergraduate or bachelor's degree (or equivalent)

  • A strong interest in civil engineering design and energy infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of areas such as site development, drainage, roads, foundations, pipelines, utilities, electrical transmission and distribution, hydrogen, biomethane, renewable energy or offshore wind
  • Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, GIS or similar software
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to understand project context and stakeholder needs
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to safe, sustainable engineering
  • Enthusiasm for learning, developing professionally and working towards chartership

  • Full working rights in the country of application
  • No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
  • Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
