Job summary

Veolia Ireland is seeking a Graduate Automation Engineer to join the Automation team on Water and Wastewater projects across the Island of Ireland. You will design, develop, and commission PLC code, build SCADA/HMI graphics, and contribute to network configuration and site commissioning.

Travel across Veolia sites is required and you will learn from a diverse team of experts. You will hold a degree in Automation, Electronics, or Computer Science Engineering, have strong communication skills, and

Qualifications

• Degree in Automation, Electronics or Computer Science Engineering, or equivalent automation experience.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Interest in automation, instrumentation and drive networks (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, Profibus, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus).
• Willingness to travel to water/wastewater sites; valid driving licence required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset; eager to learn via mentoring and CPD.
• Interest in industrial network design, configuration and OT cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and commission PLC code.
• Build SCADA and HMI graphics.
• Assist in configuring telemetry and industrial networks.
• Perform on-site commissioning for PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
• Write ladder logic, function blocks, or structured text.
• Create FDS, I/O lists, and logic diagrams.
• Execute FAT and SAT testing.
• Collaborate with in-house design teams on PLC/HMI/SCADA coding.
• Ensure work aligns with contractual and internal specs.
• Liaise with clients during testing, installation and commissioning.
