Job summary

AXIS Capital in Ireland invites applicants to join the Reinsurance Claims Specialist – Grade I. In this role you will support timely claim handling, collaborate with Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance and Legal teams, and help maintain strong relationships with brokers and cedants.

We value a university degree or equivalent, up to three years of relevant experience, and proficiency with MS Office. You will develop expertise in reinsurance claims handling while contributing to accurate reserving

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Up to three years of experience in insurance, reinsurance, financial services, legal services, accounting, or another analytical business environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to learn and apply technical insurance and reinsurance concepts.
• Strong commitment to accuracy, professionalism, and service.

Responsibilities

• Handle assigned reinsurance claims under supervision and in accordance with AXIS Re’s guidelines.
• Review claim notifications, loss advices, bordereaux, and supporting documentation for timely handling.
• Assist in evaluating coverage, liability, financial exposure, and reporting requirements.
• Maintain accurate claim files in company systems, including SICS and the Reinsurance Desktop (RDT).
• Establish and monitor claim reserves according to guidelines and escalate issues.
• Monitor claim developments and communicate with brokers, cedants, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders.
• Support claims audits, file reviews, and regulatory compliance activities.
• Assist with management reporting, claims analytics, and data validation.
• Develop knowledge of reinsurance contracts and industry practices through training.
