Job summary

Europcar Mobility Group is seeking a General Operative at our Cloghran location. You’ll contribute to excellent customer service while ensuring fleet efficiency and safety.

The role involves early starts and a flexible roster, including 5am-1am across 5/7 days, with a full clean driving licence essential. Reporting to the Fleet & Logistics Manager, you’ll perform inspections, log movements, and assist with fleet checks.

Qualifications

• Full clean B driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years.
• Flexible to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• 40 hour working week with ability to handle physical tasks.
• Strong multi-tasking and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-rental inspections for cleanliness and safety.
• Audit vehicle quality inside and outside the fleet.
• Deliver vehicles to airports and other offsite locations with logs.
• Manage keys securely and support fleet/stock checks.
• Complete documentation accurately and adhere to safety guidelines.
• Support health and safety for self and colleagues.
• Ad hoc duties as directed by management.

General Operative – Cloghran

Europcar is seeking a General Operative at our Cloghran location to join our team, reporting to Fleet & Logistics Manager. Europcar are looking for General Operators that have a drive and passion for delivering outstanding customer service. You will be responsible for ensuring efficiency and smooth operation regarding the fleet. This role requires dedication and focus, making the customers journey your priority. This is a shift position working a scheduled roster, with early starts and working 5/7 days between 5am-1am on a flexible basis. Full Clean driving licence essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-rental inspections to ensure vehicles meet company standards for cleanliness and safety.
• Auditing the quality of vehicles both inside and outside.
• Delivering vehicles to Airport terminals and other offsite locations, keeping an accurate log of movements.
• Security focused and strong key management.
• Fleet/stock checks.
• Opening/closing impro’s.
• On fleeting/off fleeting duties.
• Tracker installation/removal and activation/deactivation.
• Complete necessary paperwork and documentation accurately and efficiently.
• Completing safety and maintenance checks on vehicles.
• Draining fuel tanks when required.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Responsible for own health and safety and that of other work colleagues.
• Ad hoc duties as directed by Management.

Your Skills

• Full clean B driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years essential.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• 40 hour working week Monday to Sunday.
• Physical ability to perform tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong ability to multi-task and manage pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Computer literate.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
• You will be a fluent English speaker with a positive "Can Do" attitude.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• A second language would be advantageous.
• Mechanical knowledge a plus. i.e. checking oil, tyres etc.

At the end of the 19th century, the car was a luxury reserved for the elite, but interested everyone, attracting crowds: in 1898, the first car show was held in Paris. Car rental will see the light a few years later, across the Atlantic, but its development will be stopped by the first and then by the Second World Wars. In the aftermath of the war, a Parisian entrepreneur revived the idea: "If you can’t afford to buy a car, why not rent one when you need it?". His name was Raoul-Louis Mattei and in 1949, he created "L'Abonnement Automobile": a company that would later become the Compagnie Internationale Europcars, then Europcar. Its headquarters, located 11 rue du Champ de Mars also included a rental agency. The company's success was rapid, as car rental responded to a real need. In 1951, l’Abonnement Automobile was the first company for car rental without a driver and its fleet counted 750 4 CV. Now, the Europcar Mobility Group has over 200,000 vehicles on average in its fleet and serves 5 million customers in more than 140 countries.
