Qualifications

• Senior, qualified lawyer with registration in NI, England & Wales and/or Ireland.
• Proven experience operating at, or ready to step into General Counsel level.
• Strong grounding in financial services regulation (consumer credit experience is a significant advantage).
• Experience working closely with product and commercial teams.
• Track record of operating effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments.
• Pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset with confidence to interact at executive and Board level.

Responsibilities

• Set and lead the legal and regulatory agenda across multiple jurisdictions.
• Act as strategic advisor to the executive team and Board.
• Provide clear, commercial legal guidance through regulatory complexity.
• Support development and launch of financial products, especially consumer finance/instalment lending.
• Advise on go-to-market models, partnerships, and distribution strategies.
• Lead high-value commercial negotiations and partnerships.
• Oversee data protection strategy and risk management.
• Ensure governance frameworks support a scaling business.
• Coordinate across legal, compliance, and wider business teams.

Conekt Legal is working in close partnership with an ambitious, product-driven financial services business as it enters its next phase of international growth. They are now looking to appoint a General Counsel to take ownership of legal and regulatory strategy across the UK & Ireland and international jurisdictions.

This is a pivotal, executive-level appointment, reporting directly to the International CEO and sitting at the heart of strategic decision-making.

This role would suit an ambitious and driven, commercially minded senior in-house lawyer keen to work in a fast paced and high growth business.
