Legal Counsel | Global Financial Technology Business | Dublin
I'm working with a major global financial technology business looking to add a Legal Counsel to its Dublin team. The company provides mission-critical technology, workflow automation, analytics and related solutions to some of the world's leading financial institutions, corporates and other major organisations. It is a sophisticated, international and technology-led environment.
They are looking for a lawyer in the 3-7 years' PQE range, ideally coming directly from private practice. The precise practice-area background is less important than the quality of your training. You might be coming from Corporate, Commercial, Technology, Litigation, Employment, Real Estate or another area entirely. What matters is that you have trained and worked within a strong Irish or international law firm, are commercially minded and are interested in developing into a broad in-house lawyer. This is a genuinely varied role.
Commercial contracts will form part of the work, but this is far from a traditional contracts-only in-house position. Depending on what is happening across the business, you could find yourself dealing with:
The business is also an enthusiastic adopter of AI within the legal function. Technology is already being used to handle a significant amount of the more repetitive work traditionally undertaken by junior lawyers. They are therefore particularly interested in lawyers who are curious about AI, willing to be trained in its use and see technology as an important part of the future of legal practice.
This is not the type of in-house move for somebody looking for a significantly slower pace. The environment is busy and demanding, deadlines matter and the legal team plays an important role within the business. For an ambitious lawyer who wants to work hard, take responsibility and build a much broader skillset than they might develop within one private-practice specialism, it could be an excellent opportunity.
