Job summary

SGS is seeking a Gas Inspector to plan and carry out risk-based audits and inspections of Registered Gas Installers, ensuring compliance with the RGI Scheme Criteria Document and applicable legislation. You will document findings in SIMS, identify non-conformances, and communicate corrective actions to RGIs.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, a full driving licence, and eligibility for RGI registration.

Qualifications

At least 5 years’ experience in the gas industry.
Advanced Craft Certificate in a relevant field.
DGS/NDGS qualification with RGIs eligibility.
Familiarity with IS 813, IS 820, EN 1949, Building Regulations.

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct risk-based audits of RGIs and document findings in SIMS.
Assess compliance, record non-conformances, and communicate corrective actions.
Apply professional judgement to assess risk and make decisions per scheme rules.
Investigate gas-related complaints and prepare investigation reports when required.
Provide guidance on standards and scheme requirements while maintaining independence.
