Job summary

SGS Gas Analysis Services in Rathnew, Co Wicklow, is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to deliver innovative gas sampling and analytical systems from concept to completion. You will work closely with the Instrumentation Project Manager and collaborate with the global SGS network to drive technical excellence.

Design, build, install, and commission bespoke gas sampling and CEMS systems, manage on-site activities, support calibration and testing, and develop engineering documentation to GMP or

Qualifications

• Engineering degree (Level 7/8), instrumentation or instrumentation & control preferred.
• Pharmaceutical industry experience is an asset.
• Electrical/instrumentation qualification and background.
• Knowledge of process systems.
• Hazardous area experience and CompEx training.
• Project lead experience and ability to train apprentices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver instrumentation and gas analysis projects of various scales.
• Design, build, install, and commission bespoke gas sampling, analyser, and CEMS systems (ATEX capable).
• Develop engineering documentation: specs, drawings, wiring diagrams, validation protocols, commissioning reports.
• Provide technical support to SGS engineers, affiliates, and customers globally.
• Manage on-site installation and commissioning, ensuring safety, timeliness and quality.
• Develop control strategies and understand Modbus, Profibus, RS232, and analog/digital signals.
• Ensure GMP and relevant industry standards compliance in regulated environments.
• Support calibration, testing, and analytical activities per standards like European Pharmacopoeia.
• Build expertise across industries: pharma, energy, industrial gases, semiconductors, brewing.
