Job summary

SGS Gas Analysis Services in Rathnew, Co Wicklow, part of the SGS group, is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to lead gas analysis and instrumentation projects from concept through commissioning.

You will design, build, install, and commission bespoke gas sampling and analyser systems, including hazardous area (ATEX) applications, and provide global technical support. This is an on-site role with opportunities to travel.

Qualifications

• Pharmaceutical industry experience is required.
• Strong capability in leading instrumentation projects from design through commissioning.
• Hazardous area experience and CompEx training are preferred.
• Electrical/instrumentation background with understanding of process systems.
• Project leadership experience and ability to train apprentices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver instrumentation and gas analysis projects of varying size.
• Design, build, install, and commission gas sampling, analyser, and CEMS systems, including ATEX applications.
• Provide technical support to SGS engineers, affiliates, and customers globally.
• Manage on-site installation and commissioning activities, ensuring safety, timeliness, and quality.
• Develop control and automation strategies with knowledge of Modbus, Profibus, RS232, and analogue/digital signals.
• Operate within GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environments and align with industry standards.
• Support calibration, testing, and application of European Pharmacopoeia standards.
• Build expertise in gas analysis technologies across industries and identify growth opportunities.
