Job summary

Kids Inc. in Maynooth, Co. Kildare, Ireland is seeking an Afterschool Childcare Assistant fluent in Irish (Gaeilge) to join our Irish-language afterschool programme for Gaelscoil Ruairí for 2026/2027. The role is on site with a focus on pairing care with language immersion.

You will support children after school, help with homework in Gaeilge, and lead Irish-language activities that foster development and engagement in a safe, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Fluent spoken Irish (Gaeilge) required for daily conversations with children and staff.
• Proven communication and interpersonal abilities are essential.
• Willingness to complete Garda Vetting and references checks.

Responsibilities

• Help children settle after school and support a positive transition into the afterschool programme.
• Assist with homework in a calm environment, using Gaeilge where appropriate.
• Lead and participate in activities including sports, arts and crafts, imaginative and outdoor play, all through Irish.
• Encourage children's social, emotional, physical and creative development.
• Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues using the Irish language.
• Assist with day-to-day running of the service while maintaining safety and inclusivity.
• Create an engaging, learner-friendly environment for all children.
