Job summary

Red Hat’s Waterford office is hosting a paid, full-time internship starting January 2027. You will gain hands-on experience across full-stack work, with opportunities to contribute to OpenShift/Kubernetes-backed GenAI Studio, backend integrations, and frontend features as needed.

This internship emphasizes collaboration, learning, and impactful projects, with flexible hours and exposure to open-source development within a diverse and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Irish university program for the full duration of the internship.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Some programming experience in TypeScript, Python, or Go.
• Interest in learning containers, Kubernetes, and cloud-native development.
• Comfort using the command line.
• Interest in learning new technologies and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Work with OpenShift/Kubernetes resources (custom resources, operators, API routes) that back the GenAI Studio.
• Build and test backend integrations, including REST API consumption, MCP server connectivity, and model serving endpoints.
• Debug issues across the stack, from cluster-level resource problems to frontend rendering.
• Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, e2e).
• Contribute to upstream open source development on GitHub: PRs, code reviews, issue triage.
• Build frontend features in React/Typescript when needed.
• Participate in team ceremonies: daily standups, weekly 360 team syncs, release planning.
