Job summary

SuperValu is seeking a hands-on supervisor for its Fresh Food department to ensure efficient operation and exceptional customer service. The role requires coordinating day-to-day tasks, driving KPI performance, and leading a motivated team in a busy retail environment.

You will oversee stock control, staff rostering, and merchandising to maintain high standards and strong store results. Excellent communication and a customer-centric approach are essential.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in Fresh Food Department desirable.
• 1 year experience in a Supervisor/Manager role desirable.
• Understanding of how to achieve KPIs and targets.
• Passion for fresh food.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the smooth running of fresh departments by prioritising and delegating workload.
• Set and monitor sales targets on gross profit margin, net margin and waste with the team.
• Control stocktaking and overheads as per fresh budget.
• Foster good working relationships within the team.
• Hold regular fresh food meetings and communicate results to the team.
• Manage employee performance with regular feedback and recognition.

Job description

Main purpose of the role:
Ensure the store`s fresh food departments operate efficiently and effectively and provide our customers with the very best customer service and fresh food offering at all times.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• 2 years`experience in a Fresh Food Department is desirable
• 1 years`experience in a Supervisor/Manager role is desirable
• An understanding of how to achieve KPIs and targets
• Passion for fresh food.

  Main duties:

• Oversee and ensure the smooth running of the fresh departments by prioritising and delegating the workload appropriately
• Set, monitor and achieve sales targets with the team on gross profit margin, net margin, waste and other KPIs as agreed with Store Manager
• Control stocktaking and overheads as per fresh budget
• Foster good working relationships among the team
• Hold regular fresh food meetings and communicate relevant details and results to the team
• Manage employee performance, giving regular feedback, recognition and encouragement
• Deal with all customer queries efficiently, professionally and consistent with store policy
• Manage employee rostering and annual leave for fresh departments
• Ensure merchandising and presentation of the fresh department is of the highest standard at all times and in accordance with relevant store planograms and guidelines.
