Job summary

Workday, Inc. in Ireland is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to bridge hands-on agent engineering with high-impact customer strategy.

You will architect, build, deploy, and optimize custom AI agents and agentic apps inside live customer environments, partnering with enterprise leaders and leveraging the Developer Platform stack. You’ll run agents on the Workday Agent Harness, collaborate with AI Deployment Architects and Product Managers, and translate field insights into scalable

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Technical Consulting, or Software Development.
• Hands-on coding and debugging skills (Python, Java, or similar), with REST APIs, OO design, system architecture, and integration patterns.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% to customer sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Agent Engineering & Deployment: Architect, build, deploy, and debug custom AI agents and agentic apps in live environments.
• Customer Discovery & Agent Architecture: Lead technical discovery sessions with senior leaders to translate requirements into enterprise-grade builds.
• Developer Toolkit Feedback & Influence: Provide feedback to improve developer tools and influence the product roadmap.
• Productization of Field Insights: Turn field fixes into standardized product capabilities with reference architectures.
• Building Total Agentic Systems with Fellow FDEs: Collaborate across Workday AI product areas to deliver complete systems.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Lead the technical workstream and coach other engineers through milestones.
