AuxiliaGroup Recruitment are hiring a Forester for a well-established forestry and land management client. The role blends practical fieldwork with forest planning, inventory, environmental compliance and client interaction across the West region.

Working closely with the Regional Forester, you will support planning, site visits, health and safety, and contractor management while developing your forestry career within a supportive team.

Formación

• Qualification in Forestry, Natural Resource Management or related discipline (FETAC/QQI Level 6+).
• Fieldwork or seasonal forestry experience is advantageous.
• Knowledge of GIS or forestry mapping is beneficial.
• Comfortable working outdoors year-round.
• Good IT skills including MS 365; CRM experience is beneficial.

Responsabilidades

• Assist Regional Forester with forest management plan prep.
• Carry out site visits and forest inspections.
• Conduct forest inventories including data collection, soil sampling and GIS mapping.
• Assist with reforestation and regeneration planning including species and planting densities.
• Monitor forest health and pest/disease concerns.
• Support environmental and forestry compliance requirements.
• Identify environmental concerns relating to water quality, protected species and wetlands.
• Support management of contractors on forestry sites.
• Ensure Health & Safety policies across site activities.
• Maintain relationships with clients and develop new forestry opportunities.
• Collaborate with Regional Foresters, Ecology, subcontractors and support teams.

AuxiliaGroup Recruitment are hiring a Forester on behalf of our client, a well-established company within the forestry and land management sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with relevant forestry experience who is looking to develop their career within an established organisation.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Regional Forester and wider team, supporting the management and sustainable development of forest sites across the West region. The position combines practical fieldwork with forest planning, inventory, environmental compliance and client/contractor interaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Regional Forester with the preparation of forest management plans.
• Carry out site visits and forest inspections.
• Conduct forest inventories, including data collection, soil sampling and GIS mapping.
• Assist with reforestation and regeneration planning, including tree species selection and planting densities.
• Monitor forest health, including potential disease, pest and invasive species concerns.
• Support environmental and forestry compliance requirements.
• Identify and report environmental concerns relating to water quality, protected species, wetlands and other sensitive areas.
• Support the management of contractors working on forestry sites.
• Ensure Health & Safety policies and procedures are followed across site activities.
• Maintain professional relationships with existing clients and support the development of new forestry business opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with Regional Foresters, Ecology, subcontractors and internal support teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualification in Forestry, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline – FETAC/QQI Level 6 or above considered.
• Previous forestry, fieldwork or relevant seasonal experience would be an advantage.
• Training or knowledge in areas such as tree identification, forest management, forest inventory or planning is desirable but not essential.
• An understanding of GIS or forestry mapping would be advantageous.
• Comfortable working outdoors throughout the year.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365; experience with CRM systems is beneficial.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organisational, planning and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Full clean driving licence is essential.

Location & Working Arrangements

This is a field-based position covering the West region. Working hours are 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible start and finish times.
