Job summary

Kerry Parents & Friends Association is seeking a Part-Time Support Worker to empower adults with intellectual disabilities at Glebe Lodge, Castleisland. The role focuses on planning goals across personal, social, and independent living areas and supporting community participation.

You will work within a person-centred framework, maintain records, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care while promoting dignity and autonomy.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Candidates who have completed at least 1 year of Nursing or Social Care degree may be considered.
• A passion for promoting and empowering those you support.
• Strong understanding of HIQA regulations, Disability Act 2005, Health & Safety, GDPR compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication to engage with individuals, families, colleagues and managers.
• Ability to document, report accurately and professionally.
• Plan, coordinate, and document daily activities and individualised care plans.
• Maintain accurate digital records and complete reports per GDPR.
• Strong time management to balance multiple responsibilities.
• Rights-based and person-centred approaches to support and advocacy.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland and willingness to drive Association vehicles with valid insurance.

Responsibilities

• Empower individuals by planning meaningful goals addressing personal, social, recreational, academic, independent living, community integration, training, and supported employment needs.
• Guide individuals to realise aspirations and participate in the community, helping them reach priorities and greater independence.
• Operate within a person-centred framework, prioritising choices and needs; collaborate with internal and external services.
• Maintain accurate records, complete relevant reports, and ensure documentation meets required standards.
• Provide physical, emotional, psychological and healthcare support while promoting dignity and autonomy.
• Facilitate life skills development through hobbies and activities to promote independence.
• Work with healthcare professionals to create care plans responsive to evolving needs.
