Job summary

Our client, a Tier 1 main contractor, seeks an experienced Finishing Supervisor to join their on-site team in Blackpool, Cork. You will oversee finishing activities, coordinate plastering, joinery, painting and tiling, and drive quality and safety on site.

You will supervise finishing operatives, manage subcontractor performance and liaise with site management to ensure defect-free handovers that meet client expectations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supervising finishing trades on construction projects.
• Knowledge of plastering, joinery, painting, tiling and finishes.
• Experience coordinating multi-trade interfaces and subcontractors.
• CSCS or equivalent site qualification is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and site teams.

Responsibilities

• Supervise finishing trades (plastering, joinery, painting, tiling) to required standards and sequence.
• Plan finishing activities with site manager and subcontractors to hit milestones.
• Monitor quality daily; inspect, identify defects and enforce rectification.
• Mentor finishing operatives to improve productivity and best practices on site.
• Manage subcontractor performance; review scopes and address non-conformance or risks.
• Maintain progress records; produce daily reports and support handover documentation.
• Coordinate with management, clients and trades to resolve interface issues and minimise delays.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, quality and environmental procedures; conduct toolbox talks.
• Attend snagging inspections and support defect close-out prior to completion.

This role will oversee and coordinate finishing activities across site operations, ensuring high-quality completion of internal and external finishes, adherence to programme milestones and compliance with health, safety and quality standards. You will supervise finishing teams, manage subcontractor performance, and work closely with site management and trade operatives to deliver defect-free handovers that meet client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate finishing trades, including plastering, joinery, painting, tiling and other specialist finishing works, ensuring work is carried out to the required standard and sequence.
• Plan and programme finishing activities in conjunction with the site manager and subcontractors to achieve milestones and maintain flow to follow-on trades.
• Monitor quality standards on a daily basis, conduct inspections, identify defects and enforce rectification to ensure completed areas meet specifications and client requirements.
• Supervise and mentor finishing operatives, promoting best practice, productivity and a culture of continuous improvement on site.
• Manage subcontractor performance, review work scopes, issue instructions, and elevate non-conformance or programme risks to the site management team.
• Maintain accurate records of progress, labour and materials; produce daily reports, update snagging registers and support handover documentation.
• Co-ordinate with site management, clients and other trades to resolve interface issues, minimise delays and ensure safe access to areas requiring finishing works.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality and environmental procedures; conduct toolbox talks, monitor PPE use and take appropriate action to address unsafe practices.
• Implement and maintain quality control checks, attend snagging inspections and support the close-out of defects prior to practical completion.

Requirements

• Proven experience supervising finishing trades on construction projects, ideally with a main contractor, developer or fit-out specialist.
• Strong technical knowledge of finishing materials, application methods and workmanship standards for plastering, painting, joinery, tiling and related trades.
• Experience managing subcontractors and multi-trade interfaces, with the ability to prioritise work and drive programmes to completion.
• Sound knowledge of health & safety legislation and site safety practices; CSCS or equivalent site qualification is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead teams, liaise with clients and collaborate with other site stakeholders.
