Job summary

Galway Bay Hotel in Galway is seeking a Commis Chef to join our busy Kitchen team. You will work alongside the Executive Head Chef, supporting the team to deliver high quality dishes in line with SOPs.

The successful candidate will have 1 year of similar experience, solid knowledge of restaurant fine dining and banqueting, and HACCP knowledge. Meals provided on duty and opportunities for career progression.

Qualifications

• 1 year of similar experience.
• Solid knowledge of Restaurant Fine Dining and Banqueting.
• Ability to work in a busy environment.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the production of food items according to menu specifications
• Be aware of and prepared for the business in house every day
• Be familiar with the menu and with any “specials” of the day.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared to agreed standards
• Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen are prepared and presented to agreed standards.
• Avoid unnecessary wastage and follow portion planning and control and to act in a cost effective, responsible manner.
• Ensure excellent food hygiene practice is observed in the entire food chain from storage through to preparation and service.
• Follow and adhere to HACCP compliance within the kitchen and all Food & Beverage outlets.
• Ensure the kitchen equipment is in working order; report any maintenance issues to your supervisor
• Manage stock control and place orders.
• Lead and support team members to ensure the kitchen always exceeds guest expectations by consistently producing quality food.
