Barden | B Corp in Waterford is seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function for a well established, project-driven business. Reporting to senior leadership, you will own financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and the rollout of a new finance system while developing a small finance team across sites and projects.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with strong post-qualification experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role.
  • Strong people-management experience with a track record of developing and cross-training a finance team.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, capable of cost accounting while engaging at a strategic level.
  • Confident, personable communicator, able to build relationships with project teams and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the financial management of the company, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
  • Lead and develop a small tight knit finance team.
  • Own the nominal ledger structure and monthly reporting, including site, project, and departmental P&L's.
  • Collaborate with project managers to track costs and profitability across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements and lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and supplier payment terms aligned to project cycles.
  • Prepare for and manage the annual audit process, liaising directly with auditors.
  • Oversee statutory and taxation compliance, including sector-specific tax reporting and CSO returns.
  • Support the roll-out of an upgraded finance system.
  • Other duties behest of a Financial Controller such as acting as Company Secretary, environmental reporting, insurance, pension administration and other adhoc duties.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function of a well established, project driven business. Reporting to senior leadership, you'll play a central role in shaping financial strategy, strengthening controls, and driving system improvements, all while leading and developing a team. This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to operational detail while also contributing at a strategic level.

ABOUT THE ROLE
