Job summary

Prospects is seeking a Financial Accountant to own day-to-day finance operations for a fast-growth Irish tech business. You will deliver monthly management accounts, IFRS/FRS 102 compliant reporting, VAT and payroll support, and work with auditors as the business scales.

You’ll join a hands-on team in a hybrid, flexible environment with learning support and equity options. Prior SaaS/tech exposure and strong Excel skills are highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA Ireland) or near completion.
• 1–4 years post-qualification experience in fast-growth tech/SaaS.
• Strong knowledge of FRS 102 and IFRS.
• Solid Irish tax knowledge: VAT, corporation tax, payroll taxes.
• Experience with cloud accounting software (Xero, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, QuickBooks).

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs for leadership.
• Run month-end and year-end close with accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
• Handle SaaS revenue recognition under IFRS 15 and/or FRS 102.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including credit control.
• Prepare VAT returns and manage EU VAT obligations.
• Support payroll reconciliations with the payroll provider.
• Work with external auditors on statutory accounts and corporation tax computations.
• Support R&D tax credit claims and other Revenue reliefs.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and budgeting.
• Improve finance systems and controls as the business grows.

Job description

We’re partnering with a fast-growing Irish tech business that’s expanding quickly across Europe. They’re looking for a Financial Accountant to own day-to-day finance operations, keep the books audit-ready as the business scales, and give the leadership team reliable numbers to make decisions. This is a hands-on role with real influence on how the finance function is built from here.

What the Role Involves

• Preparing monthly management accounts and reporting packs for leadership, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and variance analysis
• Running month-end and year-end close, including accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue and reconciliations
• Handling SaaS revenue recognition under IFRS 15 or FRS 102
• Managing accounts payable and receivable, including credit control and supplier payment runs
• Preparing VAT returns and managing EU VAT obligations, including the OSS scheme for digital services
• Supporting payroll reconciliations with the payroll provider, covering PAYE, PRSI and USC
• Working with external auditors on statutory accounts and corporation tax computations
• Supporting R&D tax credit claims and other Revenue reliefs
• Assisting with cash flow forecasting and budgeting alongside the Finance Manager
• Improving finance systems and controls as the business grows

What the Client Is Looking For

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CPA Ireland), or near completion
• 1 to 4 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally in a fast-growth tech, SaaS or start-up environment
• Strong knowledge of FRS 102 and/or IFRS
• Solid understanding of Irish tax, including VAT, corporation tax and payroll taxes
• Experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage Intacct, NetSuite or QuickBooks
• Confident Excel user, including pivot tables, lookups and basic financial modelling
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where processes are still being built
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to explain numbers clearly to non-finance colleagues

Nice to Have

• Multi-currency accounting and intercompany experience
• Familiarity with Stripe, Chargebee or similar billing systems
• Experience with expense tools such as Expensify or Pleo
• Exposure to fundraising, due diligence or investor reporting
• Experience with EMI share schemes and option accounting
