Job summary

FK International - Financial Search and Selection is representing a leading Irish manufacturing business seeking a Finance Director to lead the finance function and SLT financial strategy in Kildare. The role focuses on financial leadership, governance and growth, requiring robust technical accounting and commercial insight.

The successful candidate will oversee budgeting, forecasting, treasury, WIP, and project accounting while guiding a small finance team and partnering with senior leadership

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification with a minimum of 7 years' PQE and strong technical accounting skills.
• Manufacturing or construction background preferred with stock and WIP understanding.
• Strong financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting capabilities.
• Good understanding of project accounting, WIP and working capital management.
• Excellent commercial acumen and ability to act as a trusted partner to SLT.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership to support growth, profitability, risk management and long-term business planning.
• Lead the preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts and performance packs with clear analysis.
• Provide SLT with commercially focused financial insights for strategic and operational decisions.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and scenario modelling processes.
• Partner with the wider business on contract and commercial reviews and negotiations.
• Oversee project WIP analysis, reporting and financial control across projects.
• Manage treasury, cash flow and working capital including banking relationships.
• Maintain robust financial controls, risk management and governance framework.
• Drive process improvements and systems enhancements to improve finance function efficiency.
• Lead and develop a small finance team and build capability as the business grows.

Job description

A leading Irish manufacturing business is seeking to appoint a highly capable and commercially focused Finance Director to lead its finance function. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Finance Director will play an important role in shaping the strategic and commercial direction of the business, providing financial leadership to support sustainable growth, profitability and effective risk management. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic financial leadership to support growth, profitability, risk management and long-term business planning.


• Lead the preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts and performance packs, providing clear analysis of financial and operational performance.


• Provide the SLT with commercially focused financial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.


• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting and scenario-modelling processes.


• Partner with the wider business on contract and commercial reviews, including supporting key commercial negotiations.


• Oversee project WIP analysis, monitoring and reporting, ensuring strong financial control and visibility across projects.


• Manage treasury, cash flow and working capital, including responsibility for key banking and funding relationships.


• Maintain a strong framework for financial controls, risk management and governance.


• Drive process improvement and systems enhancements to improve the quality, efficiency and scalability of the finance function.


• Lead, develop and grow a small finance team, building capability in line with the continued development of the business.

Candidate Background

The successful candidate will ideally have the following background:

• A professional accounting qualification with a minimum of 7 years' PQE and strong technical accounting skills.


• Relevant experience with a good understanding of stock and WIP, possibly coming from manufacturing or construction background


• Strong financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting capabilities.


• A good understanding of project accounting, WIP and working capital management.


• Excellent commercial acumen, with the ability to operate as a trusted business partner to senior leadership.


• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
