Job summary

DFDS in Ireland is seeking a Shunter to help move trailers safely around a busy yard. Working Monday to Friday, 13:30 to 22:00, you will position equipment, support loading and unloading, and keep the yard running to meet deadlines.

You should have at least one year of driving experience, be careful, follow procedures, and communicate clearly. A hands-on team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment will fit well. DFDS offers comprehensive benefits and a supportive workplace.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of driving experience.
• Confident operating vehicles in a controlled yard environment.
• Safety is a top priority; pay attention to detail, follow procedures, and communicate clearly.
• Enjoy hands-on work and working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Safely manoeuvring vehicles and trailers around the yard.
• Carrying out basic vehicle inspections and following safety protocols.
• Coupling and uncoupling trailers in line with site procedures.
• Using approved hand signals and communication methods to coordinate movements.
• Ensuring all activity is completed safely and efficiently.
• Working closely with colleagues to support a smooth yard flow.
• Reporting any issues or defects promptly to supervisors.
