Job summary

Sodexo Ltd is recruiting a Maintenance Operative to support school sites across West Cork, mainly based in Bantry. This on-site evening role focuses on safety, security and smooth facility operations during events and activities. Shift patterns include after-hours and occasional weekend work.

The ideal candidate will have practical DIY skills, a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently, including emergency response when needed. Travel within West Cork may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking, handy person, facilities assistant or fire warden is desirable but not essential.
• Fire Warden and First Aid certification (or willingness to complete training)
• Ability to work evenings and weekends during school term time

Responsibilities

• Be the onsite point of contact during evening hours (typically 6:30pm–8:30pm on weekdays)
• Provide site supervision during sports events and occasional weekend tournaments
• Act as First Aid assistant in case of emergency
• Support safe operation of the building, including training in HVAC systems
• Carry out light maintenance and DIY tasks as required
• Ensure premises remain secure, safe and well maintained
• Report incidents, hazards or maintenance issues promptly
