Job summary

ESS Ltd in Longford is seeking an experienced Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support high-speed PLC-controlled packaging equipment. You will perform preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults, and assist the production team to meet targets.

You must have trades qualification, at least five years in a maintenance environment (food/beverage preferred), and good English.

Qualifications

• Trades-qualified electrician or mechanical technician with full appliance knowledge.
• Minimum of 5 years in a maintenance environment, ideally in food/beverage.
• Excellent trouble-shooting skills and ability to work on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Electrical and mechanical trouble-shooting on high-speed PLC-controlled equipment.
• Electro-mechanical repairs to handling and packaging equipment; pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Implement Preventive & Predictive Maintenance routines.
• Support Production Team to achieve targets and monitor line performance.
• Decide on immediate repairs vs. escalation based on fault assessment.
• Keep workshop and transit areas clean; follow safety practices.
• Update CMMS records for changes, parts, and work performed.
• Troubleshoot using PLC programs.

• Electrical and Mechanical trouble-shooting
• Electro-mechanical repairs to high-speed, PLC-controlled plant, handling and packaging equipment, also pneumatic and hydraulic control systems
• Input to and carry out Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Routines
• Support Production Team in achieving targets
• Closely monitor line and machine performance and intervene on line as soon as any deterioration in performance occurs
• To be observant & work off your own initiative when a fault is detected & to take action based on your best judgment on whether to effect immediate repair or not
• To keep clean any areas in which you are working, including any transit areas to and from the workshop, including the workshop and stores
• Co-operate and participate fully in training and development in cross-skilling and other job-related competencies
• Update the maintenance management system (CMMS), records of all changes, stores transactions made and work carried out
• Troubleshooting using PLC Programs

Education / Work Experience :

• Trades Qualified Electrical / Mechanical
• Minimum of 5 yrs experience within a maintenance environment, ideally food/beverage.
• Working knowledge of packing machines
• Excellent trouble shooting skills.
• Ability to work on own initative.
• Must have excellent English including technical English.

Note - must be available for 24/7 shifts.
