Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is supporting a leading medical device manufacturer in Galway to recruit an Equipment Technician for an evening shift. You will act as the SME for equipment and provide hands‑on support to production processes.

You will lead Root Cause Analysis investigations, own downtime data analysis, and develop concept designs, prototypes, and tooling to optimise equipment performance. You will also drive preventative maintenance and support onboarding for new technicians.

Qualifications

• A Level 7 qualification in a technical discipline (or Level 6 trade qualification with industry experience).
• 3+ years’ experience in a similar role.
• Automated equipment maintenance experience in a regulated environment; essential: Electrical fault finding.

Responsibilities

• As the Equipment Technician, you will serve as the subject matter expert for equipment and provide hands‑on support for production processes.
• Lead in‑depth Root Cause Analysis investigations for equipment failures, implementing permanent systemic engineering fixes beyond routine troubleshooting.
• Take primary ownership of downtime data analysis.
• Develop concept designs, prototypes, and production tooling (jigs, fixtures, etc.), ensuring optimal equipment performance at all times.
• Execute and improve Preventative Maintenance (PMs), ensuring equipment reliability and supporting line stability and cost‑reduction projects.
• Lead the management and availability of consumables and tooling, and support onboarding and technical guidance for new technicians and the production teams.
