Job summary

Headcount Solutions Ltd is recruiting an Environmental Specialist for a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Ireland on an initial fixed-term contract. The role sits in the EHS team and focuses on regulatory compliance and sustainability.

The successful candidate will maintain ISO 14001, support EPA licence compliance, prepare reports to regulators, manage waste and drive environmental improvement initiatives across the site.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
  • Previous experience in an environmental role within a regulated manufacturing environment, ideally pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices or chemical manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish environmental legislation and EPA licence compliance.
  • Experience preparing environmental compliance reports and interacting with regulatory authorities.
  • Knowledge of waste management regulations and best practice.
  • Experience maintaining Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 or equivalent).
  • Strong organisational, communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Support the site's environmental compliance programme in line with EPA licence requirements and applicable environmental legislation.
  • Prepare and submit environmental compliance reports to the EPA and other regulatory bodies as required.
  • Monitor environmental performance and assist with regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Coordinate waste management activities, ensuring compliant handling, storage, transport and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Support the site's sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, resource efficiency and environmental improvement programmes.
  • Maintain and improve the site's EMS, ensuring continued compliance with ISO 14001 and internal standards.
  • Assist with environmental risk assessments, incident investigations and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Monitor environmental KPIs and prepare reports for site management.
  • Review environmental procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external contractors to ensure environmental obligations are met.
  • Provide environmental guidance and support across manufacturing and support functions.

Our client, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to join its Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team on a initial fixed term contract.   • Previous experience acting as, or supporting, a Biosafety Officer would be advantageous.
