Job summary

Gaia Talent is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support a major rail infrastructure programme in Dublin. The role involves environmental oversight, assurance and close collaboration with the project team to embed environmental standards throughout design and construction.

The successful candidate will have a degree in Environmental Science/Engineering or Geoscience, substantial experience on major infrastructure projects, and strong knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment and Irish

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science/Environmental Engineering/Geoscience or related discipline.
• Significant experience in environmental management on major infrastructure or rail projects.
• Strong knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment and Irish planning legislation.
• Experience with contractor oversight, project controls and environmental reporting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with environmental commitments, planning conditions and project requirements.
• Review contractor environmental management plans, design submissions and supporting documentation.
• Provide environmental input during design development and assist in developing practical mitigation solutions.
• Act as the primary environmental contact for an assigned section of works.
• Work closely with contractors, designers, engineers and other project stakeholders.
• Support stakeholder and third-party engagement alongside the wider project team.
• Monitor contractor performance against environmental management plans and project standards.
• Review environmental monitoring data, mitigation measures and performance information.
• Identify environmental risks and support the development and implementation of corrective actions.
• Contribute to project reporting, planning, risk management and quality assurance processes.
• Escalate significant environmental issues and provide technical advice to project leadership.
