Job summary

• Monitor compliance with environmental commitments, planning conditions and project requirements.
• Review contractor environmental management plans, design submissions and supporting documentation.
• Provide environmental input during design development and assist in developing practical mitigation solutions.
• Act as the primary environmental contact for an assigned section of works.
• Work closely with contractors, designers, engineers and other project stakeholders.
• Support stakeholder and third-party engagement alongside the wider project team.
• Monitor contractor performance against environmental management plans and project standards.
• Review environmental monitoring data, mitigation measures and performance information.
• Identify environmental risks and support the development and implementation of corrective actions.
• Contribute to project reporting, planning, risk management and quality assurance processes.
• Escalate significant environmental issues and provide technical advice to project leadership.

The Opportunity

A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to support the environmental performance of a major rail infrastructure programme in Dublin.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will provide environmental oversight and assurance across a defined section of civil works, helping to ensure project commitments, planning requirements and environmental standards are effectively embedded throughout design and construction.

Key Responsibilities

About You

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geoscience or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in environmental management on major infrastructure or rail projects.
• Strong understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment and Irish planning legislation.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments.
• Strong environmental risk management and technical assurance skills.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving abilities.
• Highly organised with strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Experience on major rail, metro or underground infrastructure programmes.
• Membership of a relevant professional body such as IEMA, ISEP, CIWEM, CIWM or IEI.
• Experience with contractor oversight, project controls and environmental reporting.
• Knowledge of BS, EN and IS environmental specifications and standards.
