Job summary

Mott MacDonald is hiring an Environmental Scientist/Consultant to join the environmental team in Ireland. You will work in a multi-disciplinary environment, delivering environmental services across energy, water and transport sectors.

The role requires delivery of environmental reports, planning and consenting activities, and active stakeholder engagement. A degree in a related field and experience with EIA in Ireland are essential.

Qualifications

  • A Degree level or equivalent education in a related field.
  • Experience supporting on the delivery of EIA and other environmental reporting for major projects in Ireland.
  • Excellent reporting ability with examples available.
  • Some experience of consenting regimes in Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and prepare environmental reports to support design, development and consenting for major infrastructure projects (e.g., EIA, screening and scoping).
  • Prepare and manage planning and environmental compliance registers, action logs and monthly reporting.
  • Support stakeholder engagement with internal and external parties, including statutory authorities.
  • Collaborate with other teams across Mott MacDonald to deliver projects on time.
  • Assist in management of sub-contractors, project management, and preparation of project costings and budgets.

Overview Of The Role

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Consultant to join the environmental team in Ireland. This role offers the opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary environment, giving access to a broad knowledge base with the support of experts across the business. It is anticipated that the role will include supporting the delivery of a broad range of environmental work streams, to deliver integrated environmental services across our project pipeline of work for a range of sectors including energy, water and transport.

Key responsibilities and duties include:
  • Co-ordination and preparation of environmental reports to support the design development and consenting for major infrastructure developments e.g. constraints / feasibility studies / optioneering studies, screening and scoping reports and other environmental assessments including environmental impact assessment reports
  • Preparation and management of planning and environmental compliance registers, action logs, decision registers and monthly reporting
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement activities (internal and external) including engagement with statutory authorities
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other teams across Mott MacDonald to successfully deliver projects in a timely manner
  • Supporting in management of sub-contractors, project management, and preparation of project costings and budgets
Candidate specification
Essential:
  • A Degree level or equivalent education in a related field
  • Experience supporting on the delivery of EIA and other environmental reporting for major projects in Ireland
  • Excellent reporting ability with examples available
  • Some experience of consenting regimes in Ireland
Desirable:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong data and document management skills
  • A broad understanding of planning and environmental risks and the initiative to identify those risks and develop solutions
  • A collaborative and supportive approach to working with both colleagues and clients
  • A commitment to technical excellence
  • Experience co-ordinating multi-disciplinary inputs into the delivery of environmental and planning deliverables in Ireland
