Job summary

Design Build Search is seeking a Safety Lead to drive health and safety on a major residential and commercial project in Ennis, Co. Clare. The role reports to the Group Health & Safety Director and focuses on providing competent advice and ensuring full compliance with legislation, policies and regulatory requirements.

You will lead by example on site, support project teams, drive the Safety Management System, and promote a proactive safety culture across the project team.

Qualifications

• Health and Safety Cert, Diploma or Degree is essential.
• Proven experience as a Safety Lead on site for a commercial construction project main contractor.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular, formal site audits and inspections in line with the Safety Management System.
• Ensure all statutory inspection records are maintained for site activities.
• Deliver Health & Safety induction programmes for new employees and contractors.
• Manage, monitor, and recommend PPE requirements for on site personnel.
• Organise and chair site Safety Meetings.
• Review subcontractors’ RAMS & SPA and evaluate their safety compliance.
• Assist Site Management in drafting and communicating Method Statements.
• Maintain and communicate the site Emergency Plans.
• Conduct preliminary accident investigations and update the Group Health and Safety Director.

Job description

A highly established residential & commercial construction contractor has an opportunity for a driven Safety Lead. This role will work in a commercial & residential project in Ennis Co Clare. Reporting directly to the Group Health & Safety Director, this role is responsible for providing competent advice and ensuring full compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, company policies, and statutory requirements.

The successful candidate will lead by example, acting as a visible role model onsite and supporting project teams in achieving the highest standards of Health & Safety performance. You will provide active, site based support to project teams, helping to drive the company’s Safety Management System and promoting a proactive, best practice safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular, formal site audits and carry out inspections in line with the Safety Management System.
• Ensure all statutory inspection records are maintained for site activities.
• Deliver Health & Safety induction programmes for new employees and contractors.
• Manage, monitor, and recommend PPE requirements for on site personnel.
• Organise and chair site Safety Meetings.
• Review subcontractors’ RAMS & SPA and evaluate their safety compliance.
• Assist Site Management in drafting and communicating Method Statements.
• Maintain and communicate the site Emergency Plans.
• Conduct preliminary accident investigations, while updating the Group Health and Safety Director.
• Ensure First Aiders are available on site and that all required supplies and certifications are up to date.
• Collate and prepare all relevant information for inclusion in the project Safety File for client handover.
