Job summary

Apleona seeks an experienced EHS Manager to lead Environment, Health & Safety performance for our integrated facilities management operation across Ireland. You will oversee a team, set objectives, and drive a robust EHS program across multiple sites including Cruiserath, Dublin Plaza and Shannon.

You will lead incident investigations, ensure legal compliance, and align with GMP/GxP requirements while embedding a strong safety culture and continuous improvement across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years' EHS experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role within a regulated industrial, pharmaceutical, life sciences or manufacturing environment.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Facilities Management experience and GMP/GxP environment experience is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing EHS professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation.
  • Experience managing contractors within complex operational environments
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical, investigation and report-writing capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Irish H&S legislation, environmental requirements and client/apleona policies.
  • Maintain oversight of legal registers and ensure actions from changes are implemented.
  • Monitor audits and support regulatory inspections, client audits and internal reviews.
  • Lead investigations into significant incidents and CAPA closures across sites.

Apleona is seeking an experienced and influential EHS Manager to lead Environment, Health & Safety performance for our integrated facilities management operation supporting a global biopharmaceutical client’s operation across Ireland.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5pm
Main duties and responsibilities
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of EHS professionals supporting operations across Cruiserath, Dublin Plaza and Shannon.
  • Establish clear objectives, priorities and development plans for direct reports.
  • Foster a positive, proactive and accountable safety culture across all locations and provide EHS guidance to operational management teams.
  • Develop and implement the Ireland EHS strategy aligned with objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and monitor emerging regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Lead EHS programmes, campaigns and cultural improvement initiatives and support strategic business growth initiatives and mobilisation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Irish H&S legislation, environmental requirements, Apleona policies, Apleona Key Account requirements and BMS expectations.
  • Maintain oversight of legal registers and ensure actions arising from legislative changes are effectively implemented.
  • Ensure operational activities always remain audit ready and support regulatory inspections, client audits and internal key account and Apleona audits.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with site-specific and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure suitable and sufficient risk assessments are developed, reviewed and maintained for Apleona activities in accordance with both Apleona and client requirements.
  • Oversee high-risk work activities and critical risk controls and lead identification and mitigation of operational hazards and emerging risks.
  • Ensure lessons learned are captured and implemented across all Irish locations.
  • Lead investigations into significant incidents, near misses and environmental events and ensure causes are identified and appropriate corrective actions implemented.
  • Monitor Apleona Investigation and CAPA effectiveness and closure performance across all three sites.
  • Analyse incident trends and develop proactive prevention strategies.
  • Provide EHS governance and oversight of contractors, and support contractor onboarding, qualification and performance monitoring processes.
  • Accountable for the governance, assurance and performance oversight of contractor EHS programmes across all supported locations.
  • Partner with procurement and operational teams to manage supplier EHS performance.
  • Act as the primary EHS interface with BMS EHS leadership and site stakeholders, and build strong relationships across operational, technical and quality functions.
  • Present EHS performance, trends and improvement initiatives to senior leadership forums.
  • Support client inspections, regulatory interactions and strategic EHS discussions.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering and Operational teams to ensure EHS requirements support GMP and GxP expectations
  • Develop, monitor and communicate account EHS KPIs and performance metrics and produce reports, dashboards and executive summaries.
  • Drive achievement of contractual EHS goals and account objectives, while utilising digital tools and analytics to identify improvement opportunities and emerging risk trends.
Qualifications and experience
