Job summary

Stripe is seeking an experienced Entity Controller for the International Accounting team in Dublin. You will lead monthly close, ensure US GAAP and IFRS compliance, and drive technical accounting across cross-functional partners including Tax, Legal, and Treasury. Strong audit, accounting, and communication skills are essential.

The role involves supervising outsourcing partners, enhancing processes, and staying current with Irish regulatory changes. ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of accounting experience including Big 4 background and industry exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS/FRS102 and tax filings.
  • Professional accounting qualifications (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) and relevant degree.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly close for US GAAP and local books with reconciliations and schedules.
  • Own financial statement prep, memos, and audit support for IOC/board.
  • Maintain technical accounting memos and ensure IFRS/GAAP compliance.
  • Collaborate with Tax, Transfer Pricing, Treasury, Corporate Accounting, and Legal.
  • Oversee outsourcing partners to ensure timely filings and accuracy.
  • Improve processes through automation and efficiency gains.
  • Stay updated on Ireland accounting and tax regulations.
  • Oversee tax returns' preparation and review.

About The Team

Our finance team is responsible for shaping our understanding of how Stripe is performing as a business, as well as what our best opportunities are for continued growth. We’re looking for an experienced Entity Controller to join our International Accounting team. As a key part of our controllership team in Dublin, you will help us build our technical accounting and financial reporting processes, work with business partners, financial partners, external stakeholders and our world-class engineers. You will help us develop best in class accounting processes and help track our progress within a fast-paced environment that’s growing globally.

What You’ll Do
Responsibilities
  • Lead Financial Close Processes: Manage the monthly close of US GAAP books and local books, including balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, flux analysis, and reporting deliverables.
  • Statutory Audit Process: Own the financial statement preparation, technical memos, audit support, culminating in presentations to the board of directors.
  • Technical Expertise: Maintain fluency with US GAAP and IFRS/ FRS102, producing necessary technical accounting memos.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with Tax, Transfer Pricing, Treasury, Corporate Accounting, and Legal teams on diverse projects.
  • Outsourcing Management: Carefully supervise finance outsourcing partners to ensure compliance and filing requirements are met timely and accurately
  • Process Efficiency: Enhance existing processes through simplification and automation to drive efficiencies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed on changes in accounting and tax regulations in Ireland.
  • Tax Review: Oversee the preparation & review of direct and indirect tax returns.
Who You Are
Minimum Requirements
  • Experience: 8+ years in accounting, preferably trained in audit (Big 4 preferred) and industry experience.
  • Systems Proficiency: Excellent knowledge of accounting systems (Oracle or equivalent).
  • Audit Knowledge: Experience with large audits (central and local teams) and tax filings.
  • Accounting Expertise: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and FRS102/ IFRS.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional initiatives.
  • Communication Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Adaptability: Flexible with changing requirements in a fast-paced, growing environment.
  • Certification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • Consolidation Experience
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance background
  • Problem Solver: Strong passion for solving complex challenges
  • Self starter
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background: Knowledge of or experience in the payments, fin-tech, or financial services industries.
  • Tech Experience: Accounting experience in a fast-growing tech environment.
  • Technical Skills: Hubble/SQL experience beneficial.
In-office expectations

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €79,100 - €118,700. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (\"OTE\") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
