Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and versatile Engineer or Engineering Technician to join our multidisciplinary electromechanical engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work (fabrication, wiring, testing). The successful candidate will support ongoing R&D projects, assist with product prototypes, help maintain and troubleshoot equipment, and contribute to internal engineering tools and automations. Where training is needed, time and resources will be provided.
You will work within a closely knit team of electrical and mechanical engineers and gain exposure to real-world engineering workflows, from concept through to prototyping and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fabrication & Electrical Assembly
- Assist in the fabrication of prototype components using hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
- Build and wire electrical devices, including sensors, control panels, small switchboards, and test rigs.
- Assemble control boxes, cable harnesses, and low-voltage systems under supervision.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and schematics.
2. Equipment Testing, Troubleshooting & Repair
- Support testing of mechanical and electrical systems, recording and analysing results.
- Assist in diagnosing faults in equipment, including circuit-level debugging, sensor verification, and component replacement.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on lab/test equipment.
- Set up and run small experiments, collect data, and document results.
3. General Engineering Support
- Prepare test reports, wiring schedules, SOPs, and documentation.
- Assist with inventory management, parts sourcing, and project organisation.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, design reviews, and prototype evaluations.
- Carry out ad-hoc engineering tasks that support the team’s priorities.
Additional requirements:
1. Technical Skills
Experience in all areas is not required — training will be provided, but enthusiasm is essential.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (AC and DC Circuits).
- Ability to use hand tools and workshop equipment safely.
- Familiarity with wiring and basic electronics (advantageous).
- Some exposure to programming (Arduino, Python, or similar).
- Understanding of engineering drawings and schematics.
- Comfortable running tests and collecting structured data.
2. Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and documentation habits.
- Ability to work independently on tasks once trained.
- Positive, proactive attitude and comfort asking questions.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Employment Outcomes
- Hands‑on experience with electrical assembly, fabrication, prototyping, and troubleshooting.
- Exposure to real engineering environments and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience using tools, meters, PLCs, sensors, industrial hardware, and modern web technologies.
- Opportunity to contribute directly to engineering projects and see your work implemented.
- Mentorship from experienced engineers across electrical, mechanical, and software disciplines.
- A portfolio of completed tasks, test results, prototypes, or software features you can bring to future roles.
