Job summary

MongoDB in Ireland is seeking a Lead Engineer to head the Server Ingress Security team, rearchitecting ingress networking and building the Atlas Network Protection layer to harden pre-authentication surfaces.

You will lead a security-focused, high-performance Rust codebase, drive a 12-month roadmap, work with Product Security and Engineering leadership, and mentor engineers to grow their careers in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience managing a team of software engineers, including hiring, performance and growth management.
• 8+ years of experience building production-quality systems software with large backend codebases, ideally in Rust.
• Bonus points for experience with performance profiling, network protocols, TLS, and connection management
• Strong technical judgment that guides engineering decisions in security-sensitive domains
• Customer-focused, collaborative, and able to work across teams

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers, managing all aspects of people management including hiring, growth, compensation, and performance management.
• Be directly responsible for the results your team delivers.
• Lead the design, implementation, and operation of production-ready security services in Rust, focusing on security, correctness, performance, and reliability.
• Own the definition and execution of the team's 12-month roadmap for the Atlas Network Protection layer.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Program Management, and Engineering leadership to specify, prioritize, and deliver new features.
• Handle or lead efforts to manage time-sensitive security incidents and customer escalations.
