Job summary

Ohshima Ireland LTD in Shannon, Co. Clare, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead engineering and lean initiatives in a fast-paced multinational setting. You will drive ERP-related improvements, manage projects and teams, and deliver weekly performance reports. The role focuses on process optimization, cost reduction, and safe, compliant operations within our ISO9001/AS9100 environment. The position is based on site in Shannon.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading manufacturing engineering in a fast-paced, multinational environment.
  • Proven track record implementing lean manufacturing and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Strong project management, reporting and team leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering support to customers and suppliers.
  • Identify and implement improvements to equipment, processes and methods.
  • Prepare, maintain and communicate weekly engineering performance reports to management.
  • Provide project management support where required.
  • Drive cost reduction programmes and capacity improvements.
  • Lead and participate in weekly team meetings and performance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with lean procedures and document technical data accordingly.

Ohshima Ireland LTD is currently seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our growing team based in our facility in Shannon, Co. Clare. This organisation has worldwide expertise but also a local presence within our specialized field. This will be a key role in the company and requires someone coming from a fast-paced multi-national company background.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Engineering Support
  • Providing Manufacturing Engineering support to both customers and suppliers.

  • Identifying and implementing improvements to equipment, processes and methods.

  • Prepare, maintain and communicate Engineering performance reports to management on a weekly basis.

  • Providing project management support where required.

Value Engineering
  • Identifying and driving improvement initiative to reduce costs and improve on time delivery.

  • Support Operations capacity improvement projects and focused improvement teams.

  • Development and implementation of cost reduction programmes on an annual basis.

  • Directly contribute to and support continuous improvement in the business in terms of technology, capability and behaviour in line with the business demands.

People Management
  • Actively supporting the development needs of the team to ensure task flexibility, carrying out annual reviews and managing the team’s performance

  • Attending morning meetings

  • Lead weekly team meetings

  • Monitoring time keeping and attendance issues within the team.

  • Team player who enjoys multiple interactions with fellow employees on a daily basis

  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are being followed

  • Conduct scheduled meetings with Supervisor team to review performance, issues and targets

  • Prepare, maintain and communicate production performance reports to management on a weekly basis

Lean Manufacturing
  • Responsible for applying, maintaining and improving lean manufacturing procedures.

  • Playing a lead role in developing processes and implementation of a new ERP solution.

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Good Problem Solving thinking - e.g. Five Why's

New Product Introduction
  • Manage the introduction of new products/technology ensuring a stable and capable process.

Metrics:
  • Focus on weekly and monthly metrics

Health & Safety
  • Development of accident reduction measures and controls, and conformance to current legislation regarding machine safety
